Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Hare, age 89, of Rainbow City, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 02, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Donald McClendon will officiate. Private burial will be held at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Dot was a lifelong resident of Etowah County, Alabama. She was a 1952 graduate of Gadsden High School and attended Gadsden Business College. She married her loving husband Donald Hare in 1957, and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. She was a member of Riddles Bend Baptist Church. Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Donald Hare and her parents, Charles E. and Mary Evelyn Heath; and niece Teresa Knowles.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Hare Tucker, Attalla, Alabama and Donna Hare (Steve) McCledon, Gallant, Alabama; grandson, Matthew McClendon, Gallant, Alabama; Chosen Son, Randy Tucker, Attalla, Alabama; Sister, Linda Kinsey, Centre, Alabama; sisters in law, Glenda (Lamar) Pruitt, Southside, Alabama and Alice (Rich) Olivo, Campbell, California; Nieces and nephews, Steve Kinsey, Centre, Alabama, Janet Bloom, Gadsden, Alabama, Rodney Bevil, Stockton, California, Edwin Knowles, Mobile, Alabama and Keith (Joy) Pruitt, of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to caregiver Lucy Hamby and home health nurse Julia Suther.
The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, March 02, 2024 prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
