Dorothy Brooks
was born in Henderson County, Tennessee on March 22, 1928 the daughter of the late John Martin and Martha Melinda Hopper Vestal.
On August 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to Edgar Eli Brooks, Jr., who preceded his wife in death on February 4, 2015.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Sardis, Tennessee. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and being outside.
Dorothy departed this life on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Sardis, Tennessee at the age of 95 years, 5 months, and 9 days.
She is survived by children, Johnny (John) Brooks of Memphis, Tennessee, and Kimba Brooks of Sardis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Marcus Pipkin (Cherie), Ginger Pipkin (Johnna), and Lee Hill; and great grandchildren, Reagan, Reese, and Eli.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Arch Martin, Kye Martin, Albert Martin, Clyde Martin, Claude Martin, George Martin, and Gilbert Martin; and sisters, Edith Broughton, Allene Weatherington, and Ruby Clark.
