Doris Joan Perry Dryden
August 9, 1939 – March 3, 2025
Doris’ life began on August 9, 1939 in Muscadine, Alabama. She was one of six children born to Leonard and Latha Perry. She graduated from Cleburne County High School in 1957 and attended Berry College for a few years. One of the things she enjoyed over the years was getting together with the class of 1957 to catch up with her friends.
A couple years after school she married her husband, Tyrone Dryden. They went on to have two children, Tony and Kim. She dealt with heartbreak when In 1968 Tony was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of eight. He preceded her in death in June of that year.
All of her life she was known as a hard worker with a strong work ethic. You would often see her working in her yard or at the church cemetery. She worked in Bremen, Georgia most of her adult life. She was a loyal employee of The Ray Sewell Company for 18 years. She worked for Tallapoosa Builders in Tallapoosa, Georgia for a few years before heading back to Bremen. She served as office manger at Gateway Printing Company until her retirement in Fall of 2007.
After retirement she moved to Celebration, Florida with Kim. She lived her best life there with two of her sisters. She spent her time traveling to baseball games for her great grandson and helping take care of her family and going to the Disney Parks. The highlight of her life was being able to be with family.
The family moved back to Alabama in 2012 to be closer to her son in-law, Keith’s parents. Muscadine was still her home. Her sister Charlotte moved from Florida with her. They enjoyed their time together visiting people and attending her church, Campground United Methodist.
She had an obsession for fashion with shopping as her favorite past time! She had to match from head to toe! Everyone who knew her always told her how amazing she looked!
She enjoyed getting together with her sisters and brothers and talk about younger years when her and her sister Charlotte had to pick from the garden and the others didn’t. She would say, “Daddy made us work”. Some other things she loved was going dancing, listen to gospel music, throwing the baseball with her great grandson, and watching the grands swim!
She passed at home peacefully surrounded by her family. She was blessed to have live to eighty-five years old.
