Doris Jean Griffin, 75, of Athens, AL, passed away on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Ms. Griffin was born on August 21st, 1950, in Limestone County, AL, to Roger and Norma (Garner) Johnson.
Ms. Griffin is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Robinson (Chris); son, Chris Gray; grandchildren, Britany Gray, Zach Freeman, Nick Freeman, and Kelsey Robinson; sisters, Carolyn Turner and Patricia McMahan; great-grandchildren, Legacy Gray, Kaylin Freeman, Kinsley Gray, Karlee Freeman, Reagan Lopez, Ozzie Freeman, Walker Freeman, and Ellie Jean Freeman; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Norman Johnson; husband, Butch Griffin; son, Michael Gray; sisters, Joyce Thornton and Darlene Clinard; and brother, James Johnson.
The funeral service will be Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at New Salem Cemetery, at 1:30 p.m., with Doug Colwell and Richard Clinard officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 to 12:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Chris Gray, Scott McMahan, Jonathan McMahan, Jason McMahan, Bill Turner, and Tony Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Zach and Nick Freeman. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
