Doris Franks Hunt was born on May 9, 1951 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of the late George Franks and Mattie Ruth Wood Wilkerson.
On May 6, 1967, she was united in marriage to Jay Hunt, who survives.
Doris worked for Walmart when it first came to Hardin County for 9 and a half years. She later opened her own business, DJ’s Convenience Store, in the Nixon Community that she would own and operate from 1994 until 2004. She was of the Baptist faith.
Doris Franks Hunt departed this life on August 29, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 20 days.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jay Hunt of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Amanda Herndon (Nicky) of Olive Hill, Tennessee; sons, Michael Hunt (Stephanie) of Savannah, Tennessee, Jason Hunt (Chrissie) of Savannah, Tennessee, and Tim Hunt (Mindy) of Florence, Alabama; sister, Vonda Pierson of Niles, Michigan; brother, Jesse Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jada Herndon, Nick Herndon, Jeromy Rainey, Kimberly Rainey, Abby Hunt, Cailie Hunt Austin, Condrey Hunt, and Caroline Hunt; and great grandchildren, Nyles Herndon, Brayleigh Herndon, Piper Rainey, and Tripp Rainey.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda Via and Mev Armstrong and brothers, Freeman Franks and Coy Franks.
