Doris Ann Dean, 78, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at her home. Born on February 20, 1945, she was the daughter of Melvin and Pinkie Bell King Ables. An avid flower lover, she could name any tree, bush, flower, or plant. Her grandchildren were her world and she was her husband’s “Sweetie Pie” for over 60 years. She was a 1963 graduate of Smithville High School and a faithful member of House of Prayer Baptist Church in Amory.
Her graveside service was on Friday, Febuary 9, 2024 at 4 p.m. as she requested to buried the same day on her home place. Bro. Phillip Lindsey officiated.
Survivors include her husband, James Douglas “Doug” Dean of Smithville; two daughters, Tanya Jones (Brad) of Smithville and Tracie May (Brock) of Amory; three brothers, Jimmy Abel (Peggy) of Smithville, Jacky Abel (Caroloyn) of Smithville; and Robert Ables (Debbie) of Smithville; grandchildren, Brayden, Noah, and Lauren Jones of Smithville; and Jack and Lexie May of Amory; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Brayden and Noah Jones, Jack May, Conner King, Ryan Christian, Quinn Johnson, and Henson Pulliam.
