Donnie Ray “Don” Shires, age 81 of Rainsville, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga, TN on October 31, 1944 to the late Robert & Eleanor Keith Shires. He retired from Nu Foam Corporation as a Salesman. He was a member of Crawfish Springs Masonic Lodge #300 in Chickamauga, GA and a member of the Alhambra Shrine in Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with his grandson, Joshua Underwood, officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Masonic honors. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Shires; children, Teresa (Jeff) Turner,
Donna (Andrew) Lehman, Michelle (Nolen) Sanford, and Jenna (Floyd) Bailey; sister, Faye Gervais; grandchildren, Joshua (Andrea) Underwood, Lauren (Cole) Williams, Savannah (Patrick) Burgess, Gracie Turner (Jacob Smith), Lucas Turner, Dahlia Sanford, Layton Sanford, Jackson Bailey, and Cayden Bailey; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Eleanor Shires; and brother, Alton Shires.
