Mr. Donald Simpson, age 86 of Athens, AL passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at his home. Mr. Simpson was born on November 16, 1933 in Limestone County to John B. Simpson and Reba Sirten Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nicky Simpson; sister, Betty Flowers.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife Elizabeth Simpson; daughters, Mary Beth Gilliam of Athens, AL and Donna Harbison of Nashville, TN; son, Drew Simpson-Correa (Carlos Correa) of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Kelsey Nixon (Johnathon Nixon), Nicole Gilliam, David Simpson, Ashley Harbison and Lindsey Harbison; great-grandchildren, Lane, Emmy and Violet; brother, James Simpson; sisters, Doris Rodgers and Johnnie Sue McClure.
Services for Mr. Simpson will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Joe Teal officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 prior to the service. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnathon Nixon, James Askew, Billy Broadway, David Nixon, Alex Holland and Roy Houston Turner. Honorary pallbearers are Arlon Putman and Wendell Brooks.
