Donald Keith Meigs, 93, of Huntsville, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital. Born in Dadeville, AL, Mr. Meigs was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Meigs of Dadeville. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Yvonne Newman Meigs; and brothers, Dr. Lamar Meigs and Dr. Stanley Meigs.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Neeley, Julie Malone (John), and Jeanne Phillips (Randy); one son, John (Amy), all of Huntsville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his beloved puppy, Weezie.
Mr. Meigs graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He spent his career with Boeing working on aircraft design and later on the Lunar Rover mission. Following retirement, he obtained his Master’s in Education and was instrumental in opening the Academy for Academics and Arts in Huntsville and taught Mathematics for many years. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with his family.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Coy Hallmark officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Huntsville Hospital Foundation or the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild.
