Donald Jay Van Eizenga (93) born May 27, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI died October 3, 2026 at his residence at Autumn Cove Assisted Living, Anniston, AL after battling the effects of dementia. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Elaine (Boult), parents Paul & Hendericken Hattie (Holtgeerts) Van Eizenga, brothers and sisters Gerald (Mildred), John (Yvonne)&(Claredene), Jane (Sid) Tunstra, Paul “Dutch” (Charlene), Ray (Betty) and Eileen (Gerrit) Ruiter.
Don leaves behind his children; Jerry (JoAnn) Van Eizenga and Pamela (Howard) Graves. Grandchildren; James (Joanna), Shawn (Megan), John and Shelby Van Eizenga. Great grandchildren; Marley, Zuri & Kenji Van Eizenga.
Don graduated from Godwin High School in 1950 after which he apprenticed as a tool and dye maker before joining the Air Force at 18. After serving he became fully certified and worked as a tool and dye maker.
Don and his wife Joyce retired to South Carolina where he was able to enjoy playing golf year round.
The family would like to say thank you to the wonderful staff at Autumn Cove for superior care and kindness and also express our deepest appreciation to the Enhabit Hospice care team for their hard work and compassionate care.
The family will be having a private remembrance.
