Donald Hugh Cross, 85, went to sleep on December 11, 2023 and woke up in the arms of Jesus. Don was born on January 21, 1938 to Christine and George Thomas Cross. He graduated from Colbert County High School. After serving a short stint in the Air Force, Don returned home and had various jobs including: Reynolds, Alabama State Trooper, Muscle Shoals Police Officer, grocery store operator, and a restaurant owner. However, he said the most enjoyable was his many years of selling produce from his pickup truck. For years Don could be seen peddling his produce in Sheffield and other locations around the Shoals.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, and daughter, Cherie.
Don is survived by his two grandchildren and numerous cousins.
Special thanks go to Cypress Cove Center and Aveanna Hospice for their care during Don’s last few months.
