Donald Harris “Bud” Perkins, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Cloverdale, Alabama on March 26, 2024.
Bud was born at home in Waterloo, Alabama on a farm near Second Creek. The family moved to Cloverdale where he met his future wife, Allene, during elementary school. They started dating in 9th grade and were married August 7, 1955.
He loved God and his family and was always ready to give advice and a helping hand. He enjoyed nature and going for long drives. Also, he liked watching the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football. He retired from Occidental Chemical Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Sr. and Bessie Perkins; brother, Jesse Perkins Jr.; brother-in-law, Jim Easterly; and sisters-in-law, Betty and Wanda.
He is survived by his loving wife, Allene; daughter, Susan Blakeslee (Richard), son, Tim (Sherrie); sister, Margaret Easterly; grandchildren Dayna Price, Selena Price, Mary Jen Brewer (Nick), Christopher Perkins (Hannah), Zachary Perkins; great-grandchildren Ailee Stoll and Myles Brewer.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Richardson, Larry Garrett, Bobby Lovelace and the men of Cloverdale Community Church.
Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Doc Shell and Brother Don Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
