Funeral services for Mr. Donald “Don” Wayne Humphreys, age 71, will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2024 in the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 12 PM until service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt, TN.
Mr. Humphreys passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on January 31, 1953, in Humboldt, Tennessee to the late Fred and Doris (Shivers) Humphreys. He graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, Tennessee in 1971.
Don worked at Procter & Gamble, before starting his career with Gibson County Electric Membership Corporation. He completely enjoyed GCEMC and being surrounded by an incredibly supportive work family. Over the years, he spent time in bowling leagues, gun clubs and as a member of a few rock bands.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anita Humphreys.
Don is survived by his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Humphreys; daughter, Laura (Trent) Welch of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Casey (Adrienne), Zoe and Jaxon Welch; a stepdaughter, Nicole (Brock) Wilson; a brother, Randy (Debbie) Humphreys; nieces, Randi Nicole Humphreys, Natalie (Kevin) Cates; a great niece, Layla Sue and great nephew, Neyland Cates; his niece, Becky Sims and his sister Alecia (Greg) Hendrix; along with nephews, Braydon and Brice Hendrix.
