Donald “Bud” Rayburn Pritchett, age 66, of the Morgan City community of Union Grove, Alabama, passed away at Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Bud was born October 23, 1956, in Marshall County, Alabama, son of Luther Lawrence Pritchett and Thelma Lucille Boyd Pritchett. Bud retired from Saginaw in Decatur, Alabama where he was employed as a machine operator. He was a member of Oleander Methodist Church. Bud was extremely proud of his family and had many good friends. Spending time with his children, grand-children and friends were extremely important to him. He was known to go “loafering,” which is to say he would get out to see what’s happening but with no particular place to go and no particular time to be there. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, and country and/or gospel music.
Family left behind to cherish precious memories of Bud include: Son and daughter-in-law, John Luke and Stefanie Pritchett; daughter and son-in-law, April and Jimmy Jett; grandchildren, Zachary Pritchett, Dakota Pritchett, Sara Pritchett, Makenzie Pritchett, Danika Jett, Brantley Pritchett, Paxton Jett and Harrison Pritchett; brother, Bo Pritchett; and multiple nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family members preceding Bud in death include: wife, Connie Pritchett; parents, Luther and Thelma Pritchett; son, Tommie Dewayne Pritchett; brothers, Joe Pritchett, John Pritchett and Gene Pritchett; sister, Louvella Marlor.
Services for Mr. Pritchett will be at the Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, September 18, 2023 between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Brother Gary McRae will be officiating. Interment will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan City.
