Funeral service for Don Turney, 82, will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Gandy’s Cove Community Church with Bro. David Carroll officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Cook Cemetery. His body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Turney went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born May 24, 1942, in Morgan County, to James Cleo Turney and Nell Virginia Dutton Turney.
He was a member of Gandy’s Cove Community Church. Mr. Turney retired from Wolverine Tube after working 43 years. He also was a founding member of the Gandy’s Cove Neighborhood Watch, and was the Chief of the Ebenezer Volunteer Fire Department. He loved hunting, fishing, and his little cattle farm, enjoyed serving his community and being a part of the Morgan County Cattleman’s Cooking team.

his Wife of 62 years – Linda Alford Turney,
Sons – Jeff Turney (Tammy) and
Chris Turney (Jill),
Three Grandsons – Ben Turney, Lucas Turney, and Jordan Hall,
Great Grandson – Bodie Turney
Bonus Granddaughter- Taylor Panyi
and Sisters- Ginger Hume (David) and Frances Jean Alford.
Pallbearers will be Ben Turney, Lucas Turney, Jordan Hall, Tyler Chavers, Steven Ziaja, and Coy Alford,
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Morgan County Cattleman’s Cooking Team.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gandy’s Cove Community Church Activities and Building funds.
