It is with deep sadness that the family of Don Roden announces his passing on June 21, 2026.
Born on October 31, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI, Mr. Roden spent most of his life in Lawrence County, AL, the community he loved and proudly called home.
Don was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend whose greatest priority was always his family. He dedicated his life to supporting those he loved, offering unwavering encouragement, guidance, and care.
Mr. Roden served over 25 years to Lawrence County Hospital where he worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Chief X-Ray Technician, and Assistant Administrator. He was also well known to the community as the owner and operator of Roden Foreign Car, where his expertise, integrity, and passion for automotive repair earned him the respect and trust of countless customers over the years.
An adventurous spirit, Don loved traveling, exploring the outdoors, and searching for a good “bargain” wherever he went. He found joy in hiking and accomplished one of his life’s greatest achievements by completing the entire Appalachian Trail – from Georgia to Maine, a testament to his determination, perseverance, and love of nature.
Don will be remembered for his hard work, generosity, sense of adventure, and deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
He is deeply missed and forever remembered.
A public visitation will be held on June the 25th, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Decatur, AL. The family welcomes those who wish to pay their respects, offer condolences, and share memories of Mr. Don Roden. Burial will follow in a private ceremony.
