Dolly Madelyn Mathews, 103, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Pontotoc Health and Rehab. Madelyn possessed the sweetest soul one could ever encounter. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She delighted playing the piano and singing, activities she performed at Midway Baptist Church for many years. Devotion to her family and her Lord was unwavering. Madelyn imparted wisdom to people and was always profoundly grateful for any kindness shown to her.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Steve Mathews (Lisa), Debbie Grubbs (Shannon), David Mathews (Tabatha), Craig Mathews (Beth), and Barry Mathews (Kourtney), her daughter-in-law, Jean Mathews, 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Mathews, her sons, Ronnie and Johnny Mathews, her parents and siblings, and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be 3PM Monday, January 13, 2025, at Midway Baptist Church with Bro. Rocky Watts and Dr. Terry Cutrer officiating. Visitation will begin at 1PM. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Steve, David, Craig, and Barry Mathews, and Shannon Grubbs. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Koryn and Eden Mathews, Tori Oswalt, Hannah Seale, Cody and Ross Mathews, Brittney Bean, Kylee Shelton, Pacey and Paxton Mathews.
