Diane Davis Fleming, 82, of Huntsville, AL, died May 22, 2026, in the presence of her daughter and son.
Diane was born in Gordo, AL and grew up in Tuscaloosa, AL, graduating from Tuscaloosa High School, where she served as Senior Beauty, with friends and memories that lasted her entire lifetime.
She attended Mt. Vernon College in Washington D.C., now George Washington University. During her brief time here, she offered her shoes to Mary from Peter Paul and Mary so she didn’t have to perform barefoot and also defeated Presidential nominee Barry Goldwater’s daughter in a student government election.
Diane also attended the University of Alabama where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma and finished her degree in Education at UAH.
Diane, Dede, was known for her love for her dogs, the lake, her plants (hydrangeas), and for hosting family gatherings on holidays. She also loved her music and will be remembered for her giving/selfless nature and her beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Aaron Fleming and her parents, Dr. Joe Summers Davis and Marjorie Floyd Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Flesch (Tracy); her son, Sam Fleming (Leslie); brother, Wayne Davis (Melanie); granddaughters, Sydney Smith (Carson), Katie Ann Flesch, Merril Fleming, and Katharine Fleming; nephews, Owen and Andrew Davis.
The family would like to thank Fleming Farms and Katie Payne with Loving Spaces for the gracious care they provided.
Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. A graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery will follow at 2:00 p.m.
