Funeral service for Derek Watts, 58, will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Watts  officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery (Cullman Co.).  Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Watts died on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  He was born April 27, 1964, in Morgan County, to Charles Eugene Watts and Dorothy Lucille Johnson Watts.

He has worked 28 years for the Decatur City Fire Department and taught Fire College Classes. He was a longtime manager of the Morgan County Fairgrounds for the Jaycees and was a 1982 graduate of Albert P. Brewer High School, where he excelled in playing football. He loved his boys and was a great daddy. He was a big Alabama Football fan and a UNA Lions fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Kathy Tidwell, great niece: Savannah Johnson, a niece: Angel Grindle and an Uncle: Cecil Vernon Johnson.

Sisters- Jennifer Grindle (Terry)

Dana Blankenship

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers will be members of the Decatur Fire Service.

In lieu of flowers, family requests make memorial contributions to “Brothers for Life Fund”.
