Deloris Phillips Long, age 79, of Summertown, TN passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. She was a native of Summertown, TN, and retired from the Lawrence County School System after 25 years of teaching special ed and math at Summertown High School. She was also a member of the Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association, secretary for the Lawrence County Classic Car Club, and a faithful member of Chapel Grove Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse James and Ilanell Weeks Phillips; and her husband, James William “J.W.” Long.
She is survived by three children, Darren Long (Lori), Amy Dollar, and Hollie Daniel (John) all of Lawrenceburg, TN; one sister, Janet Clayton of Summertown, TN; eight grandchildren, Whitney Rodriguez (Christian), Chase Long (Beverly), Alexis Long, Julianne Smith (Spencer), Reese Staggs, Carolina Dollar, Will Daniel, and Noah Daniel; and four great-grandchildren, Clay Long, Annlee Long, Cobe Rodriguez, and Evee Rodriguez. Those serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 2, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2026, with John Daniel, Ed Daniel, and Aaron Battey officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Grove Cemetery in Summertown, TN. Memorials may be made to Chapel Grove Church of Christ.
