Deloris Black Griffin, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her home in Houlka, MS. Born on June 18, 1940, in Pontotoc, MS, to Egbert and Dovie Black, she attended school in Randolph. Known as Mamaw Yosie to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a cherished friend to many. She was a member of the Pontotoc Church of Christ on Church Street and a former longtime member of the Booneville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Roger Griffin; her son, Burt Griffin (Jackie) of Saltillo; her daughter, Lisa Griffin of Booneville; her granddaughter, Whitnie Hill McGee (Richard) of Madison, MS; her grandson, Chancy Griffin (Brielle) of Baldwyn; her granddaughter, Kaylie Griffin of Tupelo; her great-grandsons, Porter McGee of Madison and Bo Henry Griffin of Baldwyn; her special niece, Jan Moss Nicholson; her step grandchildren Ashley Vroman (Noah) of Vicksburg, Austin Noah Wages of Ridgeland, and Daniel Reeves (Dani), and her step great grandchildren, Tyler Vroman (McKenzie), Mac Vroman, Ben Vroman, and Tate Reeves of Pontotoc, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Troy Black and Virgel Black; her sisters, Lilly Mae McGregor, Velma Pennington, and Lovell Moss; and her daughter-in-law, Paula Horn Griffin.
The funeral service is set for 11 AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with visitation starting at 9 AM. Bro. Jay Street and Bro. Donnie Hamblin will be officiating, and burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka, MS.
