Decatur’s Pub Crawl Takes Over the Streets of Downtown March 14

DECATUR-Downtown Decatur is ready to paint the town green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with plenty of fun and entertainment for everyone. Set for Saturday, March 14, 2020, Downtown Decatur’s Pub Crawl offers an afternoon and evening of street activities, music, children’s fun and games and dining in downtown restaurants. Sponsored by Valley Budweiser and the Downtown Decatur Merchant and Business Association, the Irish Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

 

Downtown Decatur’s Pub Crawl welcomes attendees of all ages and everyone is encouraged to wear festive St. Patrick’s Day apparel. A DJ will keep the crowd entertained at the Alabama Center for the Arts and there will be children’s activities from 1 to 5 p.m. benefiting Mosaic of North Alabama. Festival goers can try their luck in the cabbage toss from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Alabama Center for the Arts (nominal fee to participate) to win a pair of Bud Light lawn chairs. Additional activities include a Little Leprechaun costume contest at 2 p.m., bagpipe performers beginning at 4 p.m. and a dunking booth for a chance to dunk the mayor (nominal fee to participate).

 

Those participating in the pub crawl can pick up a lanyard beginning at 11 a.m. at the Alabama Center for the Arts. Lanyards are free of charge. Participating restaurants are The RailYard, The Brick Deli, Moe’s Original Bar B Que, Mellow Mushroom, Josie’s, The Princess, Simp McGhee’s, BB Perrin’s Sports Grille, Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company, Steakdown Street and Bank Street Grill. After visiting all restaurants and purchasing a drink, participants can turn lanyards in at the Alabama Center for the Arts between 9 and 9:30 p.m. to be entered into the drawing for the merchants’ prize basket.

 

Streets from Moulton Street to Holly Street will be blocked beginning at 10 a.m. and will be closed to traffic until 9:30 p.m. For more information on the Pub Crawl, call Maryanne Floyd, communications director for Decatur Morgan County Tourism, at 256.350.2028.
