Deborah Ann Traylor passed away in Birmingham, Alabama on Aug. 28, 2015, after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family.
Debbie was born to William (Bill) and the late Sylvia Lovelace on Sept. 8, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. Debbie, her mother, and her brother, James “Buddy” Lovelace, moved often while she was a child. She lived in several cities including Chicago, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia, Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Tampa, Florida. But it was in Santa Barbara, California that her love for the ocean was born-a love she carried throughout her life. Moving taught Debbie how to make new friends very easily and very quickly, and no one could be a better friend than Debbie. If you were her friend, then you were her family.
In January of 1974, Debbie met her future husband, Jimmy Leon Traylor. The couple married on Nov. 22nd of that year, and Debbie settled in Rogersville where she would raise her family. Debbie and Jimmy welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer, in July of 1976. A second daughter, Christy, was born in September of 1979, and twin daughters, Whitney and Brittany, were born in July of 1990.
Debbie loved wildlife, and she adored hummingbirds. She also loved to wake up early on a Friday or Saturday morning and shop the yard sales in and around Rogersville. She even introduced several of her grandchildren to the finer points of identifying the best yard sales. She was also an avid auction goer and made dozens of friends at local auctions.
Debbie is survived by Jimmy Traylor, her husband of 41 years; her four beautiful daughters, Jennifer Spry and her husband, Drew, of Florence, Christy Richardson and her husband, Derrick, of Rogersville, Whitney Traylor, of Muscle Shoals, and Brittany Traylor, of Rogersville; her father, William Lovelace and his wife, Sherry, of West Branch, Michigan; and her brother, James Lovelace and his wife, Patricia, of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.
Debbie is also survived by her grandchildren, Julie, Madelyn, Leela, Henry, and Angela Richardson, and Prentiss and Elizabeth Spry.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Lovelace.
Donations in her honor can be made to the COPD Foundation of America or the American Diabetes Association.
