David Marion Baswell born on October 16, 1939, in the Mt Vernon Area, Dekalb County, Al. He passed away April 15, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital.
After graduation from Wichita High School, he joined the US Navy where he proudly served over 23 years. Not one to sit still he then went to work for the Army as a civilian on Redstone Arsenal for another 23 plus years.
David has always been an avid motorcycle (Harley Davidson) enthusiast. He had a long history working with the Alabama Chapter of the Trail of Tears Organization. In his later years he had become a formidable competitor of Antique Cars winning numerous trophies. David was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6226 in Arab. Where he held many positions.
David is survived by his loving wife Fran; Sister Shirley Culbreath (Shirrel); Children Hope Beavers, David Baswell (Denise), Rita Ingram (Shawn). Stepchildren John Norton Jr (Rhonda), Jimmy Norton (Amber), Kay Gedling (Scott) and James Norton. He was blessed with 21 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mozell and Grady Baswell, his first wife Bernice, his siblings AultaLee Henderson, Opal Morris, Melba Morrison and his daughter Lisa Raspilair.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00pm and the Memorial Service at 3:00 pm on Sunday April 19, 2026, at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tut Fann State Veterans Home -Veterans Activity Fund.
