David Lee Simpson, Sr., age 75, of Huntsville, AL, passed peacefully at his home on the mornIng of May 19,2017.
Born in Ft. Benning, GA on September 27, 1941, the son of Julius C. Simpson and Velma (Rollins) Simpson, David graduated from Thomasville High School in Thomasville, GA in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959, where he served for nine years. He was married to Joanne W. Reed on December 24, 1961. Following his military service, David settled in Huntsville, where he enjoyed a career as a mechanical designer and quality engineer at SCI Systems.
David is preceded in death by his father, Julius C. Simpson; and brother, Philip J. Simpson. He is survived by his mother, Velma R. Simpson; wife Joanne R. Simpson; sons, David Lee Simpson Jr. (Raney) and Scott Eric Simpson (Trisha), four grandchildren, Julia Simpson-Hawkins [Jeff], David Carter Simpson, Mary Katherine Simpson, and Matthew Eric Simpson, a sister-in-law Sunny ReedTaylor, and ten nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.followed by the service at 2:00 with Bro. Jimmy Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
