David George Hannaford

October 16, 2019, David George Hannaford, loving husband, father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa passed away after his fight with lung cancer at the age of 67.

David was born on June 20th, 1952 in Torrington Connecticut. He enlisted in the United State Army in 1969 went to Vietnam “Chulia” 1970-1971. Station at Fort Hood, Tx. On November 13,1973 he married Connie May Ghidoni in Springfield, Massachusetts, together raised three children, Mona Jeanne, George and David. Got out of the Army in 1973-1975 went back in the Army 1975-1976 station at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Dave had to go to Chakmakli, Turkey for 1 year 1976-1977 (right after our second son was born) on his return we where assigned to the school brigade at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. 1977-1979. In 1979 Dave came down on orders for Camp Smith, Hawaii 1979-1983. Went to Fort Stewart, Georgia where he was in the field all the time. He came down on orders to Giessen, Germany from 1985-1992. While in Germany he was deployed to Desert Shield/Storm Dec 1990 to May 1991.

David was a proud, patriotic Army Veteran serving his country for 21 Years. Dave was always a patriot fan good or bad he’s always been as we came from New England. David retired and settled his family in Huntsville Alabama in 1992 when he came back stateside after being in Germany for 7 years. He held a couple civilian jobs after retiring until he retired again from Weather Tech after 8 years in June of 2018. David was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist church for many years. A great man, with a greater love for family.

David was proceeded in death by his father George , and his mother, Jeanne. He is survived by his wife of 47yr 11 months & 3 days, Connie, his three children Mona French (Rob), George Hannaford (Victoria), David Hannaford, his brother John Hannaford (Miki), four sisters Judy Keen (Don), Nancy O’Neal (Garland), Betty Hall (David), LeeAnn Hannaford, brother n law John Ghidoni (Cindy), grandchildren Amber, George, Kayscie, Chance, Madison, Brandon, and three great granddaughters Anavey, Georgia and Sunny. He leaves behind an Uncle, several Aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and fellow services members.

Visitation is Sat., Oct. 19, 2019, 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church followed by the Memorial service at 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Bailey Cove in Huntsville, Alabama.
