David Bentley Woller, 32, of Decatur, Alabama was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. David passed away on December 13, 2023. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 14 from 11AM-12PM at Decatur Methodist Church (701 Oak St). The celebration of life will begin at 12PM with Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating.
David is survived by his parents Johnny and Suzanne Woller; his brother John III (Valerie) and his sister Patricia Pike (Kyle); his grandmother Pat Woller; and a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather John Woller Sr. and his grandparents Jerry and Betty Lou Sayers.
David was a brilliant computer engineer who tinkered with systems and ideas and earned a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. Always pushing the bounds of the status quo, David enjoyed life fully. He traveled to music concerts, to explore the outdoors, to watch his Auburn Tigers, and to spend time with friends. David loved nature: he savored ski seasons on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains, deer season in the hills of Tennessee, the sunny beaches of San Diego, and soaking in the big skies of Utah. In recent months, David dabbled in new hobbies including glass-blowing, farming, and cooking.
David loved his family and friends deeply. His sardonic wit and wry observations masked his compassionate, empathetic heart of gold. He loved children, especially his nieces Palmer and Riley. David believed that the love of family—both family of origin and chosen family—was worth investing in no matter what.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army of Decatur, Alabama or the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
