Danny Lee Buie Profile PhotoDanny Lee “Dan” Buie, 78, husband of Carolyn “Nita” Williams Buie, resident of Columbia and preacher for Jones Chapel Church of Christ, went home to the Lord Saturday, August 10, 2024 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Perry Henegar, Jerrie Barber, and Randy Bouldin officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Born September 3, 1945 he was the son of the late Alfred Farris Buie and the late Alma Christine Roder Buie. Danny graduated Hickman County High School in 1964, then proceeded to attend Freed Hardeman, Earned a B.A. in Bible from David Lipscomb in 1968, and a Master of Arts degree in Bible in 2004. Danny preached at his beloved Jones Chapel Church of Christ in Franklin, TN. He also regularly preached at Pea Ridge, Simms Ridge Churches of Christ in Lawrenceburg, TN, and was the youth minister for Hohenwald Church of Christ in 1966, and was mentored by Paul Rogers from Centerville Church of Christ. He started working at Life and Casualty insurance in 1971, and Nationwide Insurance in 1981. Danny taught History and Social Studies for two years in Alamo, TN. He was a member of the Lions Club, and Toast Masters international. He was an avid baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis fan and enjoyed telling jokes. Dan loved the Lord and sharing God’s love with everyone he met. He loved spending time with friends and family.

In addition to his wife of almost 50 years, he is survived by his children: Annette (Steve) Vaughn Yerger, Johnny Martin Vaughn, Benjamin Barrett Buie, and Emily (Isaac) Anne Buie Whitson. Grandchildren: Evangelina Christine Whitson, Matthew Bracken Dodson, Elizabeth Elora Yerger, Caroline Samantha Yerger, Jessica Celeste Arbuckle-Baggett, and Lance Arbuckle. As well as six great-grandchildren and sister-in-law’s: Kathy Johnson, and Francis Buie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Diane Vaughn Irick, brothers; Alfred Richard Buie and Joe Everette Buie; and grandchild Brittney Arbuckle.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Whitson, Barrett Buie, Patrick Baggett, Mac Olivier, Lance Arbuckle, Richard Baggett, Frank Hutton, and Steve Yerger. Honorary pallbearers will include; Roger Baier, John Anderson, Charles Downs, Mark Vaughn, and the “Chick-Fil-A Club”.
