Curtis Leon Mathhues, age 64, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on March 17, 2026, at Russellville Hospital. Curtis was born on December 14, 1961, to Earl and Faye Mathhues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was known as a selfless man who would do anything to help others. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama. Curtis is survived by his daughter, Christy (Eric) Harbin; his son, Tyler (Megan) Mathhues; his grandchildren, Caden Ryder, Saylor Mae Mathhues, Hunter, Alana, and Harlee Harbin; his siblings, Teresia (Kenny) Johnston and Buddy Mathhues; and a special cousin, Buddy (Shelia) Butler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Mathhues; his father, Earl Jackson Mathhues; his mother, Faye Mathhues; and his brother, Anthony “Hubcap” Mathhues.
