ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle crash near Athens that has taken the life of one person and sent four other people to hospital, including a three-year-old child:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:37 a.m. Thursday, November 27, has claimed the life of an Athens woman.
Andrea F. Lemoncelli, 36, was fatally injured when the 2014 Nissan Versa she was a passenger in was struck by the 2023 Toyota 4Runner driven by Wysteria R. Whitmore, 28, of Ardmore. Lemoncelli was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, Kelly M. Allen, 55, of Blountsville, was injured and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment. Wysteria R. Whitmore and Toyota passenger Joshua G. Whitmore, 27, of Ardmore, were both injured and transported to Athens Limestone Hospital in Athens for treatment. A 3-year-old who was an additional passenger in the Toyota was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 358 mile marker, approximately four miles north of Athens, in Limestone County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
