Colbert County High School Placed On Lockdown….One Arrested More Arrests Expected

schoolLEIGHTON-Colbert County High School was placed on lockdown due to threats made trough a students Facebook account.  The lockdown lasted between 30-40 minutes. Leighton Police and the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department were called in to assist. Here is what Leighton Police have to say:

“This morning at approximately 9:30 am the Leighton Police Department was notified of threats being made over Facebook to a group of students at Colbert County High School. A short time thereafter Police put the school on lockdown for the protection of the students and also to isolate our suspect. We took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect and suspects property was searched and no weapons or anything of bodily harm was found. At that time the student was taken to Leighton Police Department and interviewed. Suspect is now placed into the Colbert County Jail on Investigative Hold until the investigation is complete.

As of 4 p.m Jonathon Hunter Phillips, 18, Muscle Shoals Alabama, has been charged with 2 counts of Harassing communications and is in jail on a $2000 bond in connection with this mornings school lockdown. This investigation is still ongoing. More arrests are expected in this case.”
