Cleadous Emmett Mathis, 73, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Saturday July 19, 2025, at 8:49 AM at Rocket City Rehab in Huntsville, Alabama.
Visitation will be held at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A chapel service will follow directly afterwards at 3:00 PM. Rev. John Holloway, Minister, First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama and Rev. Randy Fowler, Retired Youth Pastor, Mayfair Church of Christ, Huntsville, Alabama will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, in Molina, Tennessee with Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The pallbearers will be nephews: Joey Marlow, Jeff Marlow, Johnny Marlow, Bert Clem, Donny Rogers, Logan Rogers and Jordan Marlow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Johnson & Clay Owen.
Emmett was born on September 4, 1951, in Ardmore, Alabama to Cleadous and Agnes Dixon Mathis. Emmett was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. He retired from U.S. Army, Military Pay, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Emmett was preceded in death by both of his parents, Cleadous and Agnes Dixon Mathis of Toney, Alabama, Carolyn Tripp of Camargo, Tennessee. Survivors include his sisters; Patricia Johnson of Ardmore, Alabama, Sherry Clem of Elkmont, Alabama and Laura Meier of Harvest, Alabama. Nephews; Joey Marlow, Jeff Marlow, Johnny Marlow, Bert Clem, and Travis Johnson. Nieces; Sharon Ayers, Glinda Hardin, Diane Rogers and Charlotte Owen. Emmett is also survived by many great nephews, great nieces, great great nephews, great great nieces, many cousins, as well as many friends.
