Mr. Clayton Evans Lewis, 75, died Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at North MS Medical Center Hospice following an extended illness. He was born May 4, 1947 in Egypt, MS to Johnny Lewis and Vicie Leona Lewis. He was a graduate of Okolona High School. He served in the U.S. Navy at sea during the Vietnam Conflict. He was married to Barbara Mitchem Lewis with whom he shared many years. Clayton was a perfectionist and worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He was a fan of all types of sports, especially MSU and West Virginia. Fishing was his favorite past-time. He was a man of God and of the Baptist faith.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM, Monday, May 1, 2023 at Boone’s Chapel Church, Okolona, MS with Bro. Robert Fowkles and Bro. Gene Thornton officiating. Visitation will be 11 AM to service time at the church on Monday only. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Barbara Lewis of Houlka; 6 children, Amanda Lewis (Robert) of Princeton, WV, Tammy Dahlem of Hamilton, Timmy Logan (Sherry) of Smithville, Ricky Logan (Lisa) of Hamilton, Jerry Morris (Dawn) of Amory, and Donny Stacy, Jr. of Amory; his siblings, Elizabeth Hambrick (Wayne), Kathy Thornton (Gene), Sammy Lewis (Sherry), Donna Lewis and brother-in-law, Freddy Scribner; 14 grandchildren, Harley Pickle (Duston) of Amory, Matt Funderburk of Hamilton, Brad Funderburk of Hamilton, Ethan Dahlem (Shelby) of Hamilton, Hunter Dahlem of Hamilton, Brooks Maxcy (Julie) of Roseburg, OR, Will Logan of Hamilton, Heather Jordan (Cody) of Hatley, Zack Stacy (Reagan) of Columbus, Raeann Stacy of Starkville, Brittany Aday of Lackey, Haley Walls (Russ) of Athens, Jeremy Morris of Athens, Taylor Lewis of Algoma, and Ira Lewis of Algoma; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Edward Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Jacob Lewis; sisters, Johnny Ruth and Lounez; brothers, Joe Lee, Tom, Edward, Earl, and niece Melissa.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews Leslie Hambrick Stephen Lewis, David Lewis, Mike Lewis, Bruce Lewis, Justin Thornton, and Tommy Lewis.
