Funeral service for Clarence Ray Prater, age 78, of Decatur, will be Monday, April 18, 2016, 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Prater and Crosby Holt officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Prater, who died Friday, April 15, 2016, at The River City Center, was born June 7, 1937, in Decatur to Daniel “Minor” Prater and Birdie May Gray Prater. Mr. Prater was a member of First Baptist Church of Austinville, and he retired from Solutia. Mr.Prater was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Love Prater and parents.
He is survived by one brother, Dan Prater, of Decatur; three sisters, Nell Brazier and Jewel McCulloch, both of Decatur and Marjorie Cockrell, of Birmingham, also many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tony Prater, Danny Prater, Wes Prater, Jim House, Doyce Yates, and Alan Cagle.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama.
