Clara Wells passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at her residence.
Clara was born in Dayton, Tennessee but lived most of her life in Columbia, Tennessee. Clara and Betty started Betty’s Parkway Restaurant. She worked as part-time day manager and server for 24 years before retiring. Clara loved racing, University of Tennessee of Vols and Tennessee Titans football. She enjoyed most of her time going to craft fairs and flee markets. Clara was a long-time member of American Legion Auxiliary and Parkway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Tony (Kathy) Karnes; granddaughter: Angela Karnes; companion and best friend, Danny Gipson; and brother: Harold (Shirley) Stutzenberger. She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Wilson; son: Church Karnes, and grandson: Aaron “Tony” Karnes.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Parkway Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Roberts and David Roberts officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Burial will be held in Dayton, Tennessee. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
