Christine Woody Sewell Profile Photo Christine Woody Sewell, “Mer”, age 84, longtime resident of Santa Fe, Tennessee, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born on March 8, 1940, in Maury County, she was the beloved daughter of the late James Clarence Woody and the late Virgie McKee Woody. She was a 1958 graduate of Santa Fe School.

 

Christine married the love of her life, Marion Sewell, on June 27, 1958, and remained faithfully married to him for sixty-six years. Together they raised two sons, Dean (Sissy) Sewell and David (Jennifer) Sewell both of Santa Fe. Her children fondly remembered her as a source of boundless love, support, wisdom, and encouragement.

 

As a devoted grandmother, known as Mer, Christine’s joy knew no bounds. She admired and loved her grandchildren, Lindsey (Kyle) Rowekamp, Shelsea (Seth) Moss, and McKenzie (Jamison) Brewer, great grandchildren, Journey Moss, Gracelynn Moss, Eva Rowekamp, Paxton Moss, and Reese Rowekamp. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember her “Hi Darling” each time they saw her with her loving hugs and kisses. She always sang and played Jesus Loves Me to them on her piano. They were all her pride and joy.

 

Christine was a wonderful homemaker who took pride in her family and home. She was a remarkable cook, loved her flowers, loved shopping and worked hard on the family farm up until the time she developed dementia. Christine lived a life filled with devotion and love, and she was a faithful lifetime member of Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Minnie Elizabeth Woody, brothers, James Woody, Carlton Woody, sister in law, Margarette Woody, and nephews, Ricky Woody and Coleman Woody.

 

Pallbearers honoring Christine’s life and legacy will be Kyle Rowekamp, Seth Moss, Jamison Brewer, Marty Lockhart, Randy Stanfill, Brian George, and Greg Walters.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Barbara Woody.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 58, Santa Fe, TN 38482 or the Santa Fe Cemetery Fund, c/o Mark & Mimi Priest, 3782 Raleigh Beard Rd, Santa Fe, TN 38482.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Tommy Jobe and Reverend Sherry Ladd officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Santa Fe Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
