Christina Marie Hanson (Tina) was born November 9, 1981, in Huntsville, Alabama. Her immediate family included her parents, Mark & Dottie, and her sister Rebecca. Her extended family included grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Pennsylvania. There were other relatives in Minnesota and North Carolina. Summer visits to Pennsylvania were eagerly anticipated.
Tina was baptized January 3, 1982, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Madison, Alabama. Her sponsors were the members of Emmanuel in the Madison area Koinonia Bible study group. She was later a part of Prince of Peace Lutheran, Huntsville, before becoming a charter member at Messiah Lutheran.
She lived in Madison the first three years of her life, until her family moved to a new home in the
Monrovia area. She attended Monrovia Elementary School, Liberty Middle School and Sparkman High School, where she graduated in 2000. She married Brian Marbrey in 2000. They were married eleven years.
Tina began cello lessons in fourth grade and played with the Madison County Schools orchestra and the Metro Youth Orchestra. In 1996 she performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City. She especially enjoyed accompanying the Chicago Folk Service and occasionally soloing at Messiah Lutheran. She loved all kinds of music, but her favorite group was Pink Floyd.
She enjoyed all the youth activities at Messiah, and attended the ELCA National Youth Gathering in 1997.
Tina spent years working in retail, starting at Sears, then moving on to Goody’s, Target, and finally TJMaxx. She was an empathetic, nurturing person, who cared deeply for everyone she knew. She hoped to have a career in Social Work, and was to receive her Associate Degree in Psychology in May.
She grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters and guinea pigs and loved all animals. Her dachshunds, Bailey and Lilly were very special.
Tina died of heart failure April 10, 2017, in Decatur Georgia. She is survived by her parents, Mark and Dottie, her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Pierre Kolowe, her friend Lou, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
