Cherrie Louise McGuire, age 59, passed away May 7, 2026. She was born July 28, 1966, in Russellville, Alabama to the late Oscar J McGuire and Dora E McGuire Tompkins. She worked for 20 loyal years of service as a Food Inspector at the Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA). She also worked at Dollar Tree in Russellville for 10 plus years. She went to Russellville High School where she played volleyball and basketball. She was a member of St. Paul CME Church.
Cherrie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phylistene (Dolly) Groce; brothers, Eddie W. Summerhill, and Jack Abernathy.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Grant NeSmith; siblings, Tamer McGuire (Melissa), Charles McGuire, Donnell Tompkins, Omar Tompkins (Barbara), Corey Tompkins, Melvin Summerhill (Janice), James White, Georgia Greene, Kandy Hamilton, Rose Winston, Gail Tompkins; honorary son, Sean Langenfeldt and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Cherrie McGuire will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Omar Tompkins. The family requests you wear Auburn gear or Auburn colors.
