With profound sorrow and unwavering faith, we announce that Cheri Jean Smith peacefully entered eternal rest on May 15, 2026, at the age of 69. Surrounded by love and embraced by God’s grace, she departed this earthly life to receive her heavenly reward.
Born on May 10, 1957, in Bainbridge, Maryland, Cheri lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering support of those she loved.
Awaiting her heavenly arrival were her beloved father, William Smith; her dear siblings, Bruce Smith and Karen Cosby; her treasured nephews, Adam Smith, Austin Smith, and Jarred Smith; and her precious great-niece, Ava Smith. Together, they now rejoice in a reunion made possible by God’s eternal promise.
She is remembered and honored by her beloved children, Amie (Jeremy) Barker, and Melissa (Derrannal) McDonald. Her memory and legacy as a proud and devoted grandmother will live on through her cherished grandchildren, Alexis (Gage) Watts, Taylor Elders (Tyler Harry), Samari McDonald, Attoria McDonald, and Samiyah McDonald; and through her adored great-grandchildren Lawson Watts, Swade Harry, and Bodie Harry, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Also remaining to honor and cherish her memory are her mother, Irene Smith; her siblings, Diana (Steve) Crews and Robert (Debbie) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will carry her spirit forward.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the pavilion located at 95 Davie Road, Munford, AL 36268.
