Charlotte Darlene Walker Childers, 63, of Jane Lew, W. Va. (formerly of Rogersville Ala.) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lewis County W. Va. on Jan. 31, 1950, the daughter of the late Lee Junior Walker and Georgia Heath Walker.
She is survived by her son, William Eric Childers and wife, Shana, of Rogersville Ala.; three grandchildren, Meghan, Lane, and Darby Childers, all of Rogersville, Ala.; one brother, Mike Walker and wife, Theresa, of Newton Falls, Ohio; sister-in-law, Cathy Walker, of Clarksburg; three nieces, Melissa Lewis and husband, Ernie, of Jane Lew, Jaime Wyckoff and husband, Billy, of Clarksburg, and Rebecca Benson, of Weston; one nephew, Michael J. Walker and wife, Meredith, of Monroeville, Ohio; five great-nephews; two great-nieces; and several close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James David Walker.
Charlotte was the resident manager of the Weston Commons Apartments for many years. She was a fabulous cook and her family will greatly miss her homemade lasagna, fried chicken, and Crunch Bar dessert. She was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt Jr. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Charlotte’s request to have her body donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry was honored and her family invites you to join them for a memorial service at the Valley View Church of the Nazarene in Jane Lew W. Va. at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, with Pastor Toby Dukich officiating.
