Mrs. Whitaker proved lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, and for many years she was an active member of the King’s Mountain Messenger National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Her most prized piece, made of silk and metal threads, was displayed in the E.G.A.’s national office in Louisville, KY. Charlotte also prized a few quilts that she pieced by hand and quilted. These quilts were published in “Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution;” a copy of which resides in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
