Charlie Tedford “Ted” Stanley

Charlie Tedford “Ted” Stanley, 77, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born February 7, 1947 to the late William Robert Stanley and the late Reba Davis Stanley. He was a faithful and lifelong member of Friendship Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher for several years. He also served as president of the Tombigbee Water Association for 15 years and was a member of the Dorsey/Friendship Fire Department. Ted had a kind heart and was always willing to go above and beyond to help wherever there was a need. He was a 1964 graduate of IAHS and attended Itawamba Junior College for two years. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1970 and served for 36 years. He retired as Postmaster at the Tishomingo Post Office. Ted was an avid outdoorsman and was always ready for a hunting or fishing trip. He instilled the love of the sport in his grandchildren from an early age and loved spending time with them just enjoying nature. After retiring he especially enjoyed going to the cabin to cook and play dominoes with his twenty-mile bottom buddies.
Services will be 2:00 pm on Sunday October 20, 2024, at Senter Funeral Directors with Bro. Ray Guin and Bro. Darrell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Senter Funeral Home. Burial will be at Keyes Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Johnson Stanley; daughter, Christy (Kevin) Sheffield; son, Vince (Kim) Stanley; granddaughter, Ava Stanley; grandsons: Luke Stanley, Jordan (Brandi) Sheffield, Nathan Sheffield; great-granddaughter, Aisley Sheffield; great-grandson, Weston Sheffield; brother, William “Bill” (Gloria) Stanley of Brandon, MS; host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Luke Stanley, Nathan Sheffield, Jordan Sheffield, Tony Stanley, Tildon Guin, Mark Johnson
Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Fire Department.
