Charlie Lee Fowlks, Jr. was born October 7, 1940. He was the fifth child of the late Charlie Lee Fowlks, Sr. and Bernice Bones Fowlks. He passed on January 4, 2024.
Charlie was also preceded in death by his sisters: Rose M. Fowlks Crutcher, and Gladys O. Fowlks Henderson; brothers: Elder Gary Evans Fowlks, Coleman Fowlks, and Roman Speaks Fowlks; nephew, LeShawn Henderson, and great-nephew, Raphael Asher Turner.
Charlie was an active member of Conley Chapel CME Church until his death. After graduating from Council High School, he joined the US Navy. Once his tour was complete, he became a Heating and Air conditioning Craftsman graduating from Drake Technical College. He worked at UAH for 20 years and went on to work for the Huntsville Board of Education until his retirement.
Charlie was an avid golfer since the age of twelve when he started working as a caddy. He loved to travel with his wife of 25 years, Catherine, who faithfully cared for him during his illness.
Charlie loved his family and was a true servant to all. He was caring, compassionate, and sought the Lord daily for whom he should help.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Catherine Malone Fowlks; son: Rodney Earl Fowlks; daughter: Erica Yolanda Fowlks; sisters: Betty Joyce Brandon (Franklin), Sherry Dianne Fowlks, and Marjorie Fowlks, all of Huntsville, AL; nieces: Dr. Wendolyn LaBrease Crutcher-LaFleur, Dr. Alicia Faye Ward and Ann Marie Brandon, of Huntsville, AL, Cynthia Lynne Brandon of Meridianville, AL and Dr. DeAviance Fowlks Turner (Ronald) of Athens, AL; nephews: Danny Ray Brandon (Yong) of Saudi Arabia, and Minister Dexter Delano Brandon, of Harvest AL; two stepdaughters: Yvonne Kissi of Atlanta, GA and Teresa Mangum (Melvin) of Memphis, TN; one stepson, David Beckard of Huntsville, AL.; and a host of other relatives and beloved friends.
Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Pastor Latonia Malone Crutcher officiating. Interment will be in the Faith Memorial Park.
Public viewing will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, and 8:30 until 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Royal Funeral Home.
