Charles G. "Charlie" Hollaway Charles Garry Hollaway “Charlie,” 78, of Morgan City received
his eternal reward on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his family
at his home in Morgan City.

Charlie, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in
the lives of all who knew him. His journey on this Earth was
marked by love, compassion, humor, and an unwavering faith in
God. Charlie was a member of the Morgan City Church of God,
where he was an ordained deacon, served as a young people’s
Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and was part of the
men’s quartet. He loved to share his testimony about how God
changed his life in 1971 and made him a new creature. His
passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and
many more whose lives he touched. He made a profound impact
on the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him and
would want you all to know that he is “rooting for you!”

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Buren Vann and
Clarence Opal Hollaway, his sister Glenda Benson (Eddie Joe),
and his brother, Larry Hollaway.

He is survived by his “darlin” wife, Mary Jo Royster Hollaway,
whom he loved with all his heart. She lovingly cared for him as
his health declined in the last few years. He is also survived by
his siblings, Buddy Hollaway (Melinda), Stevie Hollaway, Danny
Holloway (Elaine), and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Leak Hollaway.
He left behind his three children, Shane Hollaway (Patricia),
Jason Hollaway (Carrie), and Dana Hollaway Dettweiler
(Dennis). His influence will live on in the lives of his nine
grandchildren, Brooke Hollaway Jordan (Josh), Brittanie
Hollaway Boyd (Tyler), Lee Dettweiler (Tania), Jesse Hollaway
Crafton (Matt), Erica Hollaway Mann (Andy), Brylee Hollaway,
Drew Dettweiler, Harper Hollaway, and Elijah Hollaway. He had
eight great-grandchildren and a host of others who considered
him as their “Papa,” as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 13th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at
the Morgan City Church of God. The funeral service will be on
Friday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Morgan City Church of
God with Pastor Roland Cornwell offciating. Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing. Pallbearers will be Danny Carter, Drew Dettweiler, Lee
Dettweiler, Stacy Hollaway, Gary Royster, and Philip Royster.
Honorary Pallbearer: Elijah Hollaway
