Charles Edward Thomas III, ‘Chuck’, passed away on January 15, 2025, after a long battle with diabetes. He was born on December 10, 1964, in Baltimore, MD to Charles Edward Thomas Jr. and Anna Mae Thomas. He came to Huntsville, AL at the age of one when his dad took a job with the Rocket Program. He grew up in Huntsville playing together with the neighborhood boys and hiking in the nearby woods. He spent many wonderful years camping at Smith Lake with his family, enjoying swimming, and paddle boating.
Chuck was a member of the Indian Guides with his dad for 3 years. His dad was “Chief Roaring Thunder” and Chuck was “Running Lightning”. Chuck loved to cook and took over as the cook for the tribe during their outings. He went on to join the Boy Scouts for 3 – 4 years where he earned many badges.
Later, he moved to Atlanta to attend DeVry University and graduated with a degree to become a Computer Technician. He worked for Intel Corporation for a number of years. In his spare time, Chuck liked to work on small and large engines.
He moved to Nashville, TN and was married until his divorce in 2014. He then moved back to Huntsville to be with his mom and dad.
Survivors include his father, mother, sisters, Sharon Thomas-Gage and Deborah Woodford (Jeff); nieces, Alana Pesce (Giancarlo), and Jessica Woodford Townsend (Jay); nephews, Evan Blomeyer (Jessica) and Zackary Woodford; his great-niece, Siyah; and great-nephews, Lars and Bear Blomeyer.
An informal visitation and service will be on Sunday, January 19, 2025, between 9:30 – 11:30 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL.
