Charles E. Lietch Charles E. Lietch, 91, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, September 9th, 2024, at Limestone Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mr. Lietch was born on September 22nd, 1932, in Mississippi, to James and Estella (Tidwell) Lietch.

Mr. Lietch is survived by his daughters Kathy Defoor (Barry) of Falkville, AL and Tammy Staggs of Huntsville, AL; son Charles “Chuck” Lietch, Jr. of Athens, AL; grandchildren Katie Persell (Eric) of Athens, AL, David Defoor (Holly) of Falkville, AL, Mindy Jo Staggs of Nashville, TN, Meagen Clark (Travis) of Athens, AL, and Parker Lietch of Athens, AL; and great-grandchildren Lily, Olivia, Kyleigh, and John David.

He is preceded in death by his parents James and Estella Lietch; wife Jacqueline Lindsay Lietch; and sister Betty Atwood.

Graveside services for Mr. Lietch will be Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

Charles graduated from Birmingham Southern College with honors and retired from the Defense Contract Audit Agency with over forty years of service.

He was a lifetime sports fan and was competitive in everything he did. From cheering for Auburn, and the Atlanta Braves, and the Athens Bible School Trojans – his enjoyment of sporting events never ceased.

He was a faithful and active member of the Carriger Church of Christ for over sixty years, where he taught classes, preached, and loved to lead the singing. Charles was a very patient, kind Christan man who set a great example for his children, grandchildren, and all with whom he came into contact.
