Charles Clay Rickard, 83 years old, of Huntsville, AL passed away on March 23, 2023. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Sonia Pruett (Tom) of Huntsville, AL, Valerie Harris (Richard) of Huntsville, AL and Laurie Morrison (Jeremy) of Green Cove Springs, FL; ten grandchildren., Clay Pruett (Brittany) of Annapolis Junction, MD, Micah Pruett of Little Rock, AR, Laney Pruett, Caleb Pruett, Katherine Pruett, Ellen Harris and Ryan Harris, all of Huntsville, AL, and Caroline Morrison, Elise Morrison and Elyn Morrison, all of Green Cove Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clay Rickard and mother, Elton Lora Bolton Rickard, both of Cherokee, AL
Charles was born in Cherokee, AL in the Mount Hester community. He graduated from Freed Hardeman College and University of North AL (formerly Florence State College) and received his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Alabama A&M University. He retired from teaching history for the Madison County School System. Charles was a longtime member of Mayfair Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and oftentimes singing with various groups from church. He also enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. But his true joy came from spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Monday, March 27 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. There will be a private family graveside service at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
