Charles “Bud” Allen Steele, age 90 of Estill Springs, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at NHC-Tullahoma surrounded by family. Bud was born on October 20, 1930, in Anderson, TN to the late Albert and Sarah Steele. He married the late Iris Miihlbach Steele in Bath, Ohio at her mother’s house in June of 1957. Bud was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War as a tank operator. He and Iris spent many wonderful years in Ohio before moving to Tennessee in 1987 to be close to family but he always took Iris back to Ohio to see her family. He loved to travel to California, Florida, Canada. During one of his trips to California he visited the Ponderosa Ranch where Bonanza was filmed. Bud retired after 30 plus years with BF Goodwich. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and mowing his yard when he was able. He was a true southern gentleman and would always help others in need. Bud was a devoted husband and uncle who thought of his nieces and nephews as his own children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Iris Miihlbach Steele and four sisters, Alma Leo Jordan, Doris June Wells, Wilma Payne Shelton, Peggy Steele Graham. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 1:00PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with minister Shiro Burnette officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery in Sherwood.
