Charles Andrew Winters, 87, of Florence, passed away December 8, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mr. Winters was a dedicated Christian and a member of Canaan United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was retired from Monarch Tile Company after 32 years of service, a lifelong farmer, and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His family was his pride and joy.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Canaan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rickey Green and the Rev. Chuck Canterbury officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery.
Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bonnie Winters; sister, Betty Winters; and brothers, Roosevelt and Allen Winters.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine Darby Winters; daughter, Charlotte Heaps (Tommy); brother, Clyde Winters (Catherine); sister, Rosalie Spencer; sister-in-law, Ruby Winters; grandchildren, Will Heaps (Whitney), Laura Heaps (finace John Peden), great-grandchild, Vivian Heaps; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Lack, Tony Gargis, Kenneth Murphy, James Vaden, Randal Vaden, and Mike Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Alexander, Jerry Darby, Scott Lack, Willie Bird, Steve Winter, and Mt. Bethel United Methodist Men.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the dedicated and loving staff that cared for Mr. Winters at E.C.M. Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital.
