Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve includes 740 acres of diverse forest, dense vegetation, and a spring-fed water source
that supplies food and shelter for a range of both resident and migrating birds. The 4.6-mile trail system, only minutes from downtown Huntsville, offers an exceptional and convenient birding destination. A key feature for birders is the Bird Blind & Habitat, located along Moonshine Trail just a short walk from the trailhead, which accommodates protected viewing positions for over 20 birders and photographers overlooking a bubbling water feature. The preserve attracts a variety of bird species throughout all seasons. Whenever you plan a visit, you’ll be greeted by birdsong so consider bringing your binoculars.
